Common Myths About Staffing Agencies

13 million people are employed by staffing agencies each year. Staffing agencies like ABR work on behalf of their clients (companies looking to hire permanent or temporary employees) to find people with the right skills and experience to fill a position. Even so, common misunderstandings about staffing agencies keep people from using them as a job resource. Leveraging over a million survey responses, satisfaction survey research firm Inavero, in partnership with CareerBuilder,  identified the five most common myths about working with a staffing agency.

Myth 1: I will be charged money to work with a staffing agency.
The people ABR place in jobs (we refer to our employees as ‘Talent’, not ‘temps’) are never charged a fee.There is no cost to you when you register with, work with, or are hired by a staffing agency like ABR.

Myth 2: Staffing agencies don’t care about my satisfaction.
ABR was named to Inavero’s 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 Best of Staffing list of award winners. Fewer than 2% of the 12,000 staffing firms in North America received the award. Receiving this award means people that work for ABR have given us high marks for satisfaction!

Myth 3: Staffing agencies don’t have positions I would be interested in.
According to CareerBuilder and Inavero, more than 33% of U.S. companies used a staffing agency in the past year for all types of jobs. ABR works with client companies that need administrative, call center and industrial workers. So if you’re looking for a position in one of these areas, fill out an application!

 Myth 4: Staffing agencies can’t find me a permanent position.
CareerBuilder and Inavero’s research found that 3 in 10 people offered a job by a staffing agency received a permanent position. The same holds true at ABR! For example, 65% of people that work for us were hired into permanent, full-time positions by one of our Call Center clients!

Myth 5: If I use a staffing agency, I don’t need to use other resources to find employment.
Even if you are registered with ABR, there’s no guarantee we’ll be able to place you. That’s why we offer ABR JobConnect, a free online resource to help find employment. When you’re job hunting, don’t put all your ‘eggs in one basket’; use a variety of resources to assist in your job search.
