ABR is pleased to offer a free resume builder tool through ABR JobConnect. A resume builder walks you step-by-step through the process of building your resume and then compiles your personal information into a formatted resume.

You answer questions (name, address, employers, jobs, education, etc.) and then the builder compiles the information into a resume format. You can download and save it or print it out.

To use this free resume building tool, login or create an account on ABR JobConnect. Then:

  1. Select the ‘prepare’ tab
  2. Click on ‘the ‘create’ box (box 3)
  3. Then click on the sentence ‘If you do not currently have a resume, click here to use our Resume Builder ‘.

Follow the steps and your resume will be created in no time!

Now that you have a resume, you’ll want to write a cover letter. Check out our cover letter writing tips for how to ‘sell yourself’ in a cover letter. You can even use this same information to introduce yourself to hiring managers at job fairs.

We hope you’ve found this information helpful. If you’d like to see future blogs on career or job topics, please leave a comment below and we’ll blog about it!

Wisconsin State Patrol warns drivers of “100 deadliest days”

Speaking of safe driving tips, the Wisconsin State Patrol is stepping up forces this summer to help curb distracted driving.  News 18 in Eau Claire recently reported, “Over the past 5 years, more than 5,000 people have been killed in crashes involving teen drivers during a period called the “100 deadliest days,” which runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. According to AAA, nearly 60% of teen crashes involve distractions behind the wheel. Talking to other people in the car lead the list for most crash causes at 15%, followed by using a phone at 12%. Looking at something else inside the vehicle caused 11% of the crashes.”

HR Insights Magazine – Summer 2016

June 3rd, 2016

HR Insights MagazineWe hope you enjoy the May/June 2016 edition of HR Insights. As always, the articles cover a wide range of topics and include articles that have HR as a common thread but range widely in multiple directions.

This edition’s feature article, “10 Realities That Undermine Your Knowledge Retention Efforts,” discusses one problem that most companies have but few companies address effectively. By considering the issues that Zoe Meinecke raises and figuring out ways to manage them, organizations can ensure that new employees don’t have to “spend their first several months on the job trying to recover . . . lost knowledge” and can instead get right to doing the work that most benefits their employers.

As you read through this issue, we hope you’ll find plenty of inspiration and suggestions for ways to improve your organization’s staffing practices. We know that people lie at the heart of any successful business.
