What I did, I went into ABR, and I , like I told them my situation, and I was honest, I’m trying to be a musician, and I’m not going to you know be dishonest about that, but, I am actually planning on working part-time for like years.

So I told them that and then I left kind of with the impression that they weren’t going to call me back ‘cuz I assumed that like this is a weird situation. Lo and behold they did call me back.

Yeah, I felt like ABR had more opportunities for me. I choose to work for ABR because they believe in my abilities, they call me back when they say they will and they don’t call me a temp. ABR is also the only staffing agency in the area that has won the best of staffing award 4 years in a row.

I think ABR’s communication was a lot better then the other staffing agencies…you would call and automatically get a voice mail and not really expect them to call you back for quite a while where as ABR would get back to you right away, honestly.

When Work Is Awesome, Employees Are Engaged

Employee engagement is a huge buzzword in the HR industry. “Engagement” is measured based on your employees’ performance levels, which involve motivation, involvement, and commitment to the company and to their manager. According to the Quantum Workplace 2013 Employee Engagement Trends Report, engagement continues to climb back to the level found prior to the late 2008 recession. Quantum found that 67.7% of employees report that they are engaged in the workplace.

However, according to Quantum’s report, unfortunately, the three lowest performing industries had an average of 57.9 percent engaged employees. The industries with the lowest level of engagement were:

  • Education
  • Manufacturing
  • Utilities

These  industries had an average of 57.9 percent engaged employees.

While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to sparking engagement within your company, the steps you can take to promote it are simple enough. It requires a emoting an understanding and caring attitude toward your workforce. Connect with them. Motivate them. Congratulate them. Brush up on the 10 Easy Ways to Reward Your Top Employees and incorporate at least three of these strategies into your workplace. Empower your workforce. Consider how to increase employee retention by implementing programs that help you promote from within or incentivize high performance.

It really comes down to treating your employees well. Did you know that you can improve your customer service by improving the treatment of your employees? There are those simple values again: building trust and showing respect. These basic life skills go oh-so-far in the workplace from upper management all the way down to those on the first day of their first job.

Most importantly, live by this phrase, “Employees are a company’s most valuable asset.” Without them, your company can’t function. And if your employees are not engaged, your company won’t perform well. You’re a captain and they are your crew. If the ship is sinking, you’re going down with them. But if you make sure there is a good breeze in your sails and the seas are calm, you will reach your destination.

ABR Green Bay Collects 100 Pounds of Food For Paul’s Pantry

ABR held a company-wide food drive the week of February 14th to raise 2,000 pounds of food and other items for community members in need.

The ABR Green Bay office collected 100 pounds of food! All proceeds were donated to Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay.

ABR Manitowoc Collects 105 Pounds for Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry
