My name is Pat Thrune and I work at Watlow. I am the Senior HR Generalist in the Human Resources department. One of my jobs is to fill temporary staff positions for our location.  This can be a daunting and time consuming task therefore, our company prefers we have two temporary agencies to work with.

We started working with ABR in October 2013. At the time, we were working with another vendor and were not getting the desired results from that company. I was a little leery of using another temporary agency but decided to give ABR a chance. After meeting with the ABR staff I was immediately impressed. ABR was very positive in their presentation and I liked the staff’s “can do” attitudes. We have a strong safety and ethical culture at our location, getting the right person is paramount to our workforce. They took the time to understand our goals from the beginning that we needed to be supplied with a quality, safety conscious work force.

I like having personalized customer service and was quickly able to build a good rapport with the ABR representative. He has excellent communication skills and a good sense of humor.  He toured our facility and has developed a working knowledge of the type of candidates that are best suited for my job requests. He is very helpful and prompt in getting me quality temporary workers. He has a definite knack for making great choices in the candidates that he sends to our facility. I am glad that I didn’t let a bad experience stop me from working with another staffing service. I look forward to a long business relationship with h ABR Employment Services and wanted to share my experience as one satisfied customer.

We tour all agency hires, 9 out of 10 we hire for temporary positions because candidates are top notch from ABR. We have hired four to fill full-time open positions. Our Production Team Leaders Amy Hymer, Nancy Drazkowski and Jody Harkey agree. We have not used our second source since October 2013.

I Am Glad I Decided to Give ABR a Chance

I will always be grateful I decided to give ABR Employment a chance.  

I made the difficult decision to turn down a job offer in another city to stay closer to friends and family.  It was a scary time in my life because I didn’t know how long it would take before getting another job offer.

Through my search I noticed ABR Employment Services as the employer for many interesting positions I was qualified for.  While I had never considered temporary work before, I figured it couldn’t hurt, so I submitted my resume.  Little did I know at the time just how much that decision would pay off!

ABR responded to my application in a very timely manner, and quickly began the skills assessments and hiring process.  In the several months that followed, ABR took the time to listen to my needs and connected me to their clients who were looking for someone with my skills and experience.

Social Recruiting: Where The Candidates Are And How To Attract Them

The Undercover Recruiter recently partnered with Jobvite to poll how job seekers are using social media and mobile to conduct a job search. Following are a few highlights:

  • Recruiters prefer LinkedIn when searching for candidates
  • Yet, 76% of social job seekers found their current position via Facebook
  • Twitter is the most popular place for a job seeker to ask for help and advice

At ABR, we have determined our candidates are most active on Facebook. However, candidates of Kinsa Group, our food and beverage executive search recruiting firm, are most active on LinkedIn. Thus, by monitoring and reviewing our social media site analytics, our recruiting campaigns are targeted to appropriate audiences.

Taking the Social Recruiting Plunge

Social media today provides tips on how your organization can start recruiting and sourcing effectively. Although tips 1 through 3 may not align with your company’s social media policy, these points are universal and important to follow:

  • Make it easy for your candidates to reach you on your public profile
  • Don’t focus on sales; focus on building your brand reputation as an employer of choice
  • Include a human element to your professional profile
  • Identify what interests your followers and provide content accordingly
  • Start small; you don’t have to have a presence on all sites
