Celebrating Our Past, Shaping Our Future

As we kick off  our new fiscal year, ABR Employment Services is excited to launch our year-long campaign, “Powered by Purpose Since 1987 – A Journey Through the Decades.” This campaign is a tribute to our rich history and a celebration of how far we’ve come. Throughout the year, we’ll be highlighting different decades, starting with the 1980s, to honor our past while looking forward to the future.

Kicking Off with the 80s: Where It All Began

The 1980s were a defining era for ABR Employment Services. On October 28, 1987, ABR was incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Forward Service Corporation (FSC). This pivotal moment marked the beginning of our journey in the temporary job service industry.

At that time, FSC formed the American Business Resources Corporation (ABRC) as a for-profit subsidiary to operate the temporary job service agency and other for-profit activities of Forward Service. For the first year, FSC and ABR shared a Board of Directors, office space, and staff. It wasn’t until July 1988 that ABR began to establish its own identity and operations. Our first office locations were in Manitowoc and Stevens Point, where we began to build our foundation and reputation.

Looking Back: The Origins of ABR

The original ABR logo is a symbol of our early days, representing our commitment to providing exceptional temporary job services. As we look back at this period, we are reminded of the dedication and hard work that set the stage for our growth. The 80s were a time of innovation and expansion, and we are proud of the role we played in shaping the industry.

Fun Activities: 80s Dress-Up Day

To celebrate our roots, we hosted an ’80s Dress-Up Day at our offices. Employees embraced the vibrant fashion of the decade, showcasing neon colors, big hair, and leg warmers. It was a day filled with nostalgia and fun, bringing our team together to honor the spirit of the era.
